Banchini Expected Tough Opener

Amicale Amicale FC coach Marco Banchini

Amicale FC coach Marco Banchini expects a tight contest on Saturday when the Red Roosters take on Western United FC in their match of the 2015 Fiji Airways OFC Champions League.
” We have been talking about this OFC Champions League in the last few weeks and today we are here to play,” said Banchin.

“Our preparation has stopped for ten days after cyclone Pam hits Vanuatu but all my players are now okay and ready to play in the Champions League competition.

“We understand the differences between this tournament and TVL Premier League we have played and hopefully we will be able to reach another level of intensity.

“It is going to be a great and tough match against the Solomon Islands champion club but my boys are ready for the battle. I know that Western United FC is a team full of experienced players, used to these types of games and we definitely need to reach another level to be competitive on Saturday.”

Banchini says a lot of credit has to go to his players, who have continued to be as dedicated as ever to the game, in spite of the trying circumstances at home in Vanuatu.

“We will play for the people of Vanuatu who lost their homes during the cyclone and I also encourage our fans in Fiji to come and support the team when we take on Western United tomorrow.”

Amicale open their 2015 Fiji Airways OFC Champions League campaign against Solomon Islands champions Western United at ANZ Stadium in Suva on 11 April at 7pm.
